Edicions 62

Promotion of publications in numerous genres in Catalan

Edicions 62 was founded to coincide with Sant Jordi’s day (today World Book Day) in 1962, when it launched the first title of its catalogue: Nosaltres els valencians, by Joan Fuster. Today it has a publishing backlist of some 4,000 works. In a short time, despite the political and social climate of its early years, this publishing company achieved its founding aim: to become a general-interest, universal and modern publishing enterprise.

Under the literary direction of Josep M. Castellet for over forty years, it has published Catalan translations of universal contemporary narrative, an option that it still maintains today featuring significant authors. A second fundamental line is that of contemporary Catalan narrative and Catalan classics, with the collections El Balancí and Èxits, the latter aimed at a broad audience and featuring Catalan writers of fiction and non-fiction.

Edicions 62 publishes books in practically all genres and publishing modalities: poetry, narrative, essay, biographies and memoirs; pocket editions, text books and school editions of literary works; dictionaries and encyclopaedias, major illustrated works, etc., as well as the winners of the Sant Joan prize for narrative prose in Catalan, the Gabriel Ferrater Prize for poetry and the Ciutat de Gandia literary awards: the Joanot Martorell Prize for narrative and the Ausias March Prize for poetry.

Grup 62 boasts extensive experience in producing bespoke publishing projects and, through its new business department, it offers exclusive editions of works from its publishing backlist, works for bibliophiles, illustrated books in small and large format, as well as collectibles designed for the press.
